Job Summary:
Provides instruction in Audio-Video Technology to ensure that students demonstrate appropriate mastery of standards, gain knowledge and skills essential to the industry, and are prepared for related career and post-secondary opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and pedagogy.
- Creates a safe and student-centered classroom environment in which students are able to excel as active and self-directed learners.
- Provides appropriate and content-related instruction based on state and local curricula, standards, data, strategies and resources through a combination of classroom/laboratory, co-curricular and career-related education experiences to effectively meet the needs of all students.
- Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements.
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies, procedures and guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program, including maintaining program industry certification.
- Exhibits knowledge of and employs a variety of performance and research-based strategies for instruction as well as for diagnostic, formative and summative assessments to measure students' progress and inform the direction of study.
- Provides appropriate content and skill development in an effort to address individual learning differences.
- Exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission in all work-related activities.
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues and school leadership.
- Sponsors the local chapter of SkillsUSA and related events, competitions and other related AVTF competitions.
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality.
- Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment.
Other Responsibilities:
- Attends school and department/district-level professional growth activities as directed.
- Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organization.
- Establishes and maintains membership affiliation in professional organization(s) related to industry and/or CTE.
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
- Facilitates home-school communication by means such as holding conferences, telephoning and writing correspondence.
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
- Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification/Licensure:
- Minimum of an associate's degree or higher in a Related Area
- Demonstrated work experience in the TV/Video broadcasting industry as a producer, assistant producer, director or on-air-reporter. Radio broadcasting experience does not meet the industry work experience requirement for this area of certification, Communication, Mass Communications or a PSC-determined equivalent required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of occupational work experience in the field required
