Responsibilities

• Support lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education principles.
• Assist with classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and a respectful learning environment.
• Provide physical assistance and behavioral support for students with disabilities or special needs, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities.
• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) by supporting tailored instructional activities and behavior management plans.
• Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate effective interaction with students requiring alternative communication approaches.
• Collaborate closely with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors to support student development and classroom integration.
• Prepare lesson plans, educational materials, and activities that promote literacy, numeracy skills, and social-emotional learning for children at various developmental stages.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in early childhood or special education settings is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of childhood development theories and classroom management techniques.
• Experience working with students with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders or behavioral disorders.
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professional integrity.
• Basic math skills and experience supporting literacy education are advantageous.
• Certification or training in deaf education or American Sign Language is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education practices aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
