Role Description The Staff Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Phoenix, AZ. The person in this role will perform day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, and assisting with month-end and year-end close. Responsibilities include reconciling accounts, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and assisting with tax return workflows under the supervision of senior team members. The Staff Accountant will help gather and analyze financial data, respond to client inquiries, and ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards. This role also involves collaborating with colleagues on engagements, maintaining organized documentation, and supporting process improvements within the firm.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and productivity tools (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications).
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances or issues, and present findings clearly and accurately.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and interact professionally with clients.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward CPA licensure or interest in obtaining CPA certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of tax concepts and compliance processes for individuals and businesses is a plus.
• Prior internship or work experience in public accounting or a corporate accounting environment is beneficial.
