We’re looking to hire a highly skilled wood finisher to shape, prep, and complete high-end custom products. This role requires the ability to assess work for defects, perform detailed repairs, disassemble components as needed, and precisely sand and shape surfaces. You will apply stains, paints, and specialty finishes to consistently achieve exact color matches and a high-quality final product.
To be successful in this role, you should have advanced woodworking skills, a strong understanding of finishing techniques, and a sharp eye for detail. A top-tier wood finisher takes pride in their craft and consistently delivers clean, professional results that meet client expectations.
Wood Finisher Responsibilities:
- Disassemble furniture or wooden components as needed, removing imperfections and filling cracks to prepare surfaces for finishing
- Sand and smooth items to create a clean, even surface prior to finishing
- Select and apply finishes such as stains, varnishes, shellac, epoxy, or paint to achieve desired color and specifications
- Operate finishing tools and equipment safely and efficiently throughout the process
- Read and interpret shop drawings to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements
- Conduct final inspections of completed products, performing touch-ups or corrections as needed to meet quality standards
- Pouring epoxy
Wood Finisher Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience as a Wood Finisher is required
- Strong attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Advanced design skills
- Good communication skills
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to job sites as required
- Able to speak, read and write Basic English
- Ability to comprehend basic arithmetic and mathematical equations
- Able to work overtime as required
Ability to perform physical activities including but not limited to:
- Walking, standing, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day while working on various projects
- Ability to frequently lift loads over 50 pounds
Able to comply with and wear common protective or safety equipment and follow safety best-practices including but not limited to:
- Proper footwear
- Glasses
- Gloves
- Hearing protection
- Breathing protection
- Hard hats (when needed)
- Maintain a clean working environment (includes daily shop clean-up duties)
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
