Summary

The Electronic Technician III plays a key role in supporting advanced electronic security systems by applying deep technical expertise to solve complex, real‑world challenges. This position is ideal for a seasoned technician who enjoys problem‑solving beyond standard manuals and takes pride in delivering reliable, high‑quality solutions.

In this role, you will analyze and resolve sophisticated system issues such as locating and evaluating circuitry density, assessing electromagnetic interference, isolating malfunctions, and implementing engineering changes. Your work will require a strong understanding of how circuits interact, along with the ability to exercise independent judgment when performing circuit analysis, calculating waveforms, and tracing signal flow using advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Access Control (AACS) hardware, intrusion detection systems, CCTV, and public address systems, including their integration and operational requirements.
  • Apply a solid understanding of electrical principles to the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic security systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, software tools, and established troubleshooting methodologies to isolate and resolve network deficiencies, equipment failures, and system anomalies.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical, electromechanical, and architectural drawings, schematics, and installation design plans.
  • Install sub‑level devices (e.g., patch panels, junction boxes) and head‑end equipment in accordance with approved design documentation and industry standards.
  • Read and understand component‑level schematic diagrams for electronic systems, equipment, and devices to support troubleshooting and repair efforts.
  • Identify correct cable types from drawings and specifications; pull, route, and secure copper and fiber cabling per installation design plans.
  • Test cable continuity, conductor integrity, and fiber performance to identify breaks, signal loss, or other faults.
  • Terminate electrical, fiber, and telecommunications connections, including butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks, fiber terminations, and BNC connectors.
  • Mount, terminate, and verify operation of field devices such as card readers, door contacts, request‑to‑exit (REX) devices, and cameras.
  • Install and terminate sub‑level devices and head‑end equipment, ensuring proper power connections, grounding, labeling, and documentation.
  • Terminate and test voice and data connections to confirm performance and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform field verification testing to validate system functionality and adherence to design requirements.
  • Understand infrastructure dependencies and effectively coordinate work with other trades and stakeholders to support overall project success.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while coordinating with clients, vendors, or other trades as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of project objectives and operational requirements.


Qualifications

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in non‑residential electronic systems installation and troubleshooting, with a high school diploma; or
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience combined with graduation from a U.S. Navy or U.S. Air Force Electronics Training Program (minimum 720 classroom hours) or graduation from an accredited Electronic Apprenticeship Program, with a high school diploma; or
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with an Associate of Arts/Science (AA/AS) degree in Electronics from an accredited institution; or
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Electronics from an accredited institution.


Certifications & Training

  • Software House C
  • CURE 800/8000 or 9000 certification, or equivalent AMAG certification, preferred.
  • At least two (2) active OEM certifications from the following (or equivalent) are highly preferred:
    • Morpho Detection (Itemizer)
    • Smiths Detection X‑Ray (Hi‑Scan)
    • CEIA Walk‑Through Metal Detectors
    • Delta Scientific or Koei Vehicle Barrier Systems
    • Panasonic Analog CCTV Systems
    • IP‑based CCTV Systems
    • Pathminder Turnstiles
  • OSHA 10 training required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • DCJS Training (35I or 35E) required.

Clearance & Travel Requirements

  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment, including VOM, TDR, and OTDR.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Skill Level III hand tools required for electronic systems installation and maintenance (a complete tool list will be provided).


While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 85 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
