Responsibilities
Position details:
- 1099, rate $90-100/hour
- Part-time, 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
- Hours: 8am-5pm
- Chenega covers medical malpractice insurance
- Patient Volume: Estimated 20 per day
Responsibilities:
- Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans and recommendations for patients seen.
- Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.
- Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchase Referred Care (PRC) vendors within appropriate IHS guidelines.
- Document services utilizing the appropriate electronic medical record system for patient encounters; complete all required administrative paperwork day of appointment to include electronic consults, co-signatures, completion of chart or Risk Management Reviews, unusual occurrences and peer review, as required within 24-hours of patient visit
- Be in compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) standard compliance and administrative policies, as directed.
- Provide consultation to the Emergency Department health care providers on an as needed basis. The Optometrist shall provide on-call coverage to Emergency Department for ocular emergencies on a rotational basis each month.
- Provide on-site optometrist services and coordinate patient care with appropriate other IHS Departments, i.e., Nutrition, Medical, Business Office, PRC.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctor of Optometry
- Permanent, current, full and unrestricted license to practice Optometry in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Active BLS certification
- 2 years of post-graduate experience
