The Supply Technician Freight performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.
Responsibilities
- Track property and supply movement, assist with bills of lading, supply management, storage, packing and shipping, and document control.
- Provide professional courteous customer service, and communication skills for interfacing with military, government, and civilian customers.
- May supervise other employees engaged in the requisition, receipt, inspection, storage, issuance, and warehousing operations, as well as packing, crating, and shipping materials and equipment.
- Create and updates inventory records and makes periodic physical inventories to reconcile physical count with the inventory records.
- Review computer-generated records and reports to determine ordering needs and supply activity.
- Check incoming material for quality and quantity against invoices, purchase orders, packing slips, contract order release forms, or other documents.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Cooperate with Government employees in operational performance of contract scope of work.
- Safely operate industrial forklifts from 2,000 lbs. to 15,000 lbs.
- May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License.
- Minimum four (4) years of supply technician experience.
- Good working knowledge of the governing supply system, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
- An understanding of the needs of the organization serviced.
- Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect necessary data, to establish the facts, and to recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in performing aspects of technical supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, lifecycle management, issue, receipt, etc.
- Prior experience and training in the handling and transportation of hazardous materials.
- Prior experience and knowledge with automated warehouse inventory systems preferred.
- Ability to obtain favorable National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI).
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
