The General Cleaner is primarily responsible for general upkeep and maintenance cleaning of interior buildings/facilities/lobby office areas, restrooms, and all areas determined by contract or assigned by supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Pick up trash and replace with trash liners
- Vacuum, mop, strip and wax, and sweep all floor areas
- Dust, wall spot, clean all glass, polish, and sanitize all areas
- Wash, clean, wipe down, sponge, rinse, scour, and disinfect any assigned work area
- Note and report all areas in need of repair and any hazardous condition requiring correction
- Attend government-provided annual training on child abuse prevention, identification, and reporting
- Other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent, Preferred.
- Possess and maintain a valid VA State driver's license.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to complete tasks to the highest standards possible.
- Ability to deal with frequent interruptions.
- Previous work experience preferred.
- Follow directions and instructions.
- Ability to identify safety and hazards and act accordingly.
- Ability to carry out proper cleaning procedures on a daily basis.
- Ability to adhere to all safety rules and requirements, and all policies and procedures
- Ability to provide proof of the following immunizations: Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis Skin Test, Measles, Tetanus, Polio, Varicella, and Influenza.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
