The Chenango County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for a Social Welfare Examiner. Duties involve working directly with applicants and clients to determine their eligibility for various social service programs.
Qualifications: Candidates must have completed at least 60 credit hours in any field of study; OR have a HS diploma or GED and two years of fulltime paid experience or its' part time equivalent in examining, investigating, or evaluating claims for assistance, veterans, or unemployment benefits, insurance, or a similar program.
This title has been approved without the need to take an examination through the HELP Program of the NYS Department of Civil Service. Candidates appointed permanently to this title will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP Program ends.
Positions start at $20.43 (2024) per hour and include a full benefit package.
