What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Volunteer position at Chenango Ambulance Services, Inc.?
Make a Real Impact: Become a Volunteer with Chenango Ambulance
Are you looking for a meaningful way to serve your neighbors and build lasting connections within our community? Chenango Ambulance is seeking dedicated, local residents to join our team. We are a non-profit, volunteer EMS agency serving the Town of Chenango and surrounding areas, powered by the commitment of local neighbors helping one another.
While we welcome applications from anyone interested in contributing to our mission, we have an immediate, primary need for volunteer ambulance drivers.
Why Volunteer as a Driver?
You do not need prior EMS experience to start. If you have a clean, valid NYS Class D driver’s license and a desire to help, we provide all the professional training, vehicle orientation, and support you need to get behind the wheel safely and confidently.
As a driver, you are the critical link that ensures our medical crews arrive on the scene. It is a vital role that directly impacts the safety and well-being of our community.
Join Our Team
Our agency is a supportive environment where we value the time and dedication our members provide. We are committed to internal development and have a proven track record of advancing our volunteers into expanded roles within the agency.
- Volunteer Drivers (Priority Need): We provide comprehensive driver training. No EMS experience is required.
- Medical & Support Roles: We also welcome members to assist with patient care, vehicle maintenance, facility upkeep, and administrative support.
Requirements:
- Residency: We are specifically looking for local Broome County residents seeking a long-term way to give back to the Town of Chenango and its immediate surroundings.
- License: A clean, valid NYS Class D driver’s license is required for all driver applicants. There is nothing required for non-driver applicants.
- Commitment: We respect that our members have careers and families. Our minimum commitment is designed to be manageable, averaging 8–12 hours per month.
Growth and Opportunities
We invest in our team. Volunteers who successfully complete their training and become cleared as drivers or Crew Chiefs may become eligible for compensated opportunities within our agency. We frequently look to our volunteer ranks when filling paid roles and supporting our members’ growth in the field of EMS.
- Professional Development: Learn from experienced providers in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
- Hands-on Training: We provide everything you need to succeed, including CPR, basic first aid, and professional ambulance driver training.
- Community Impact: Make a tangible, positive difference in the town where you live.
