Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe treatment plans
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately, adhering to infection prevention protocols
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term oral health
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations
- Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care
- Skilled in chairside assisting, medical imaging, X-ray procedures, and infection control practices
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively and review medical records thoroughly
