Role Description: The Operator role at Chemung Contracting Corporation is a full-time, on-site position based in Gainesville, VA. The Operator will safely operate a loader at our asphalt plant in Gainesville, VA. Daily responsibilities include performing equipment pre-trip inspections, monitoring material movement, following site plans and directions from supervisors, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The role also involves adhering to all safety policies and assisting with routine equipment maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating heavy construction equipment (e.g., loaders) and ability to follow equipment operating procedures.
- Strong safety awareness, including adherence to OSHA standards, use of PPE, and safe work practices around active construction and traffic.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for conducting equipment inspections, identifying issues, and assisting with minor maintenance or repairs.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with forepersons, drivers, and crew members.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in diverse weather, stand for extended periods, and lift or move materials as required.
