What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler/Forklift Operator position at Chemtrusion, Inc.?
Job Purpose:
The Material Handler is responsible to stage/destage raw materials used in the production process: complete necessary paperwork by procedure; transfer material from building to building; assist with inventory control; and complete housekeeping to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse.
Work Environment:
The Material Handler, while performing the duties of this job, will be operating a forklift which requires frequent stepping on and off the forklift. The employee will enter truck trailers to load and unload material. The employee will frequently look for material lot numbers and other identifying numbers/letters while staging/destaging materials. The employee will be exposed to airborne dust and hot and cold weather-related conditions. The noise level in the production area requires hearing protection. Steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat are additional PPE required to be worn at all times except in break areas.
Essential Functions and Requirements:
The employee responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
Stage and destage raw materials used in the production process; destage finished goods; complete all associated paperwork completely and accurately by procedure.
Unload and load trucks of raw materials; ensure paperwork is complete and accurate. Operate the box truck to transfer raw materials from building to building.
Safely operate all equipment especially forklifts; conduct daily forklift inspections using the forklift inspection checklist.
Must be able to lift 55 pounds. Must have good hand/eye coordination in the process of the operation of a forklift. Must be able to drive a forklift forward and in reverse while looking back over your shoulder. Must be able to get on and off a forklift constantly during a 12 hour shift and have the physical ability to lift 50 pounds of raw materials in order to stage and destage jobs. Must be able to perform computer related tasks including data entry of inventory related data. Must be able to print reports, forms and labels. Good vision and being physically able to lift 55 pounds are essential to completing the job tasks of material handling.
