At Chemtrade’s Richmond, CA Sulfuric Acid and Regen plant, we’re seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Team Lead to coordinate daily work, elevate reliability, and champion safety across our operation.
Where, When, and Who You’ll Report To
- Location: Richmond, CA
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Reports to: Maintenance Manager
- Plan, assign, and adjust the daily maintenance schedule using our CMMS/work order system.
- Craft and execute development plans for the mechanical crew to broaden capabilities.
- Coordinate with operations to prioritize urgent work without compromising safety or quality.
- Ensure preventive maintenance inspections are completed on time and documented thoroughly.
- Lead hands-on and group troubleshooting for equipment and process upsets.
- Manage spare parts and consumables: mechanical, instrumentation, welding, rotating equipment, pipe–valve–fittings, filters, bearings, and hoses.
- Hold the department to rigorous safety policies and procedures; partner in incident investigations and drive closure of actions.
- Contribute to JSAs and deliver timely EHS incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Stay current on company policies, plant procedures, and environmental permit/compliance requirements.
- Own budgeting, scheduling, outage preparation (hazard identification/mitigation), performance metrics, and post-outage reviews.
- Direct the training and education program to ensure technicians are fully competent for their roles.
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 5 years in industrial maintenance.
- Experience with pumps, motors, piping, valves, turbines, and heat exchangers in chemical, refinery, power, or pulp and paper environments.
- 3 years supervising or leading hourly maintenance teams.
- Track record implementing or supporting safety programs in an industrial facility.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms; Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP familiarity (purchasing and PM modules) is advantageous.
