Summary


The Mil-Spec Painter’s role provides the necessary paint & processing skills to accomplish quality paint service on schedule within designated aerospace/defense specifications and cost restraints. 

Job Duties

  • Complies with quality, safety, housekeeping, maintenance, production, environmental, and personnel practices to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Set up, maintain and operate equipment such as HVLP paint guns ( gravity fed and pressure fed equipment) paint mixers, mil thickness gauges and other paint measuring equipment and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
  • Mix and apply various topcoat finishes within thickness requirements ( polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears, ( gloss, semi-gloss, and flat finishes)
  • Apply markings to parts using stencils and marking aides.
  • Identifies and implements practices and procedures to improve production standards (paint yield, efficiency, rework, escape rate, etc.).
  • Cleans, masks & paints parts per internal/customer process specification along with verbal instructions.
  • Assists in monitoring and maintaining department min/max inventory levels to ensure product availability (paint, primer, gloves, solvents, etc.).
  • Selects & mixes coating material along with the basic understanding of various paints, primers & other chemicals associated with aerospace coatings.
  • Provides input and support to department supervisor and personnel to achieve both department and corporate objectives and goals.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of management and peers
  • Completes efficiently and timely all administrative tasks related to work orders & equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment by proactively cleaning equipment and paint booth areas; complying with procedures, rules & regulations.
  • Assists management and department personnel in the planning, organizing and scheduling customer orders.
  • Leads all housekeeping and foreign object debris (FOD) initiatives. 
  • Assists in interpreting NADCAP and customer requirements and instructions.
  • Assists in the training and development of department personnel in a standard to achieve department objectives and goals.

Educational and Work Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior Lead Painter experience or 5 years painting aerospace parts.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to alternate standing and sitting for 8 / 12 hours
  • Ability to see or correct to 20/20
  • Ability to hear
  • Ability to distinguish color (pass a colorblind test)
  • Ability to communicate verbally
  • Ability to communicate in written form
  • Ability to stoop, bend, use arms and hands



Working Hours are:
Monday thru Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm

Salary : $18 - $25
