Role Description
The ChemGroup is looking to add to their purchasing team at our Fairfield, Ohio location. The primary responsibility of this position will be to effectively plan, purchase, and manage orders for both bulk and packaged products, to maintain adequate inventory of a variety of products and package types to support sales. This position works extensively with our sales and operations teams as well as our suppliers and a wide network of carriers to accomplish these tasks. You will be responsible for securing material, confirming pricing, arranging freight, and following through with carrier on delivery of the product as well as timely entry of goods receipts.
Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day operations of into-stock buying, including evaluating inventory levels and reorder points, and maintaining timely and accurate good receipts.
- Communication of information gathered regarding product cost, product cost drivers, and changes in market conditions to purchasing, sales and management staff as appropriate.
- Control on-hand inventory to reduce costs, optimize warehouse space, and balance on-hand inventory levels to provide the best possible service to customers.
- Oversee and maintain inventory system so accurate information is readily available.
- Make sure customer requirements are understood and met on time, every time.
- Work closely with customer service, sales, and operations to ensure that we meet our customers’ needs efficiently and effectively.
- Be a key player in supporting the ChemGroup’s purchasing team to look for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support sales by keeping sales advised of any cost changes, delivery issues, or updates regarding customer orders.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree preferred
- One to five years of purchasing and logistics experience strongly preferred.
- One to five years of inventory management experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication and mathematical skills required.
- Positive attitude, dependable, and accountable.
- Highly detailed organizational skills required for a fast paced, high-energy environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision at a high level of accuracy.
- Motivated and self-starter, willing to take on new challenges and learn every aspect of chemical distribution.
- Ability to establish, develop, and maintain relationships with suppliers and carriers.
- Highly proficient word processing and data entry skills.
- Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
