Position Summary
The Packaging Specialist (Associate) at Chemical Guys supports the execution and development of packaging solutions across new and existing products. This role plays a critical part in ensuring packaging meets brand standards, operational requirements, and customer expectations across retail, e-commerce, and international channels.
Working cross-functionally with Product Development, Sourcing, Planning, Manufacturing, and Sales, this role helps bring products from concept to launch by managing packaging specifications, item setup, and system accuracy. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, execution-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging Execution & Development
- Support packaging development for new and existing products (Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary)
- Ensure packaging aligns with brand standards, functional requirements, and customer expectations
- Identify and support creative packaging solutions that meet performance and cost objectives
Specifications & Systems Management
- Determine product, case pack, and pallet specifications (weights and dimensions)
- Build and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for individual products and multi-product bundles
- Manage new item setup from initiation through completion, ensuring system accuracy across platforms
- Maintain and update packaging specifications and master data as needed
Project Coordination
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Creative, Operation, Sales) to support successful product launches
- Manage timelines and deliverables to meet project and business needs
- Coordinate packaging samples and review creative assets for accuracy
Merchandising & Display Support
- Support development and execution of merchandising initiatives, including end caps and off-shelf displays
- Ensure packaging and display solutions meet retail and operational requirements
Testing & Quality Support
- Coordinate transit testing to validate packaging performance and integrity
- Support packaging quality standards and continuous improvement efforts
- Standardize and formalize testing procedures related to testing of packaging and work with the testing team to ensure products are properly tested prior to launch
Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with external suppliers and internal teams to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and readiness for production
- Provide clear communication and updates on project status across departments
Team & Operational Support
- Support the Packaging Manager and Product team with day-to-day responsibilities and project execution
- Contribute to a collaborative, solution-oriented team environment
- Support projects on an as-needed basis related to but not always in scope to a packaging function
Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in packaging, preferably within consumer goods, automotive, or personal care industries
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Design, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Foundational understanding of packaging materials, specifications, and testing methods
- Experience with merchandising or retail display packaging is a plus
- Familiarity with BOM creation, item setup, and data management systems preferred
