About Chemic Engineers
Chemic Engineers is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a major chemical manufacturing facility in the Houston Ship Channel. This is a seconded, on-site assignment that offers the opportunity to lead capital and maintenance projects while working closely with plant operations, engineering, contractors, and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe execution, effective communication, and successful project delivery.
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from initial concept through startup. This role requires close coordination with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution. Responsibilities include developing project scopes, preparing cost estimates, detailed schedules, and execution work plans, coordinating engineering and procurement activities, managing contractors, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop project scopes, objectives, engineering specifications, project budgets, and feasibility
evaluations.
• Prepare engineering cost estimates, detailed project schedules, and execution work plans.
• Coordinate engineering design, procurement, and construction activities.
• Manage contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project resources.
• Monitor project progress and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve project risks and issues throughout execution.
• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable engineering standards and company safety
requirements.
• Coordinate equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Participate in annual capital planning and project budget development.
• Evaluate project performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Promote and maintain a strong commitment to safety throughout all phases of project execution.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
preferred.
• 8–12 years of project engineering or project management experience within a chemical manufacturing
or industrial process facility.
• Experience managing capital and maintenance projects from concept through startup.
• Knowledge of industrial process equipment, engineering practices, and construction methods.
• Familiarity with applicable engineering codes and standards (ANSI, ASME, etc.).
• Working knowledge of civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines.
• Experience preparing project cost estimates, schedules, and economic evaluations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
