Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead and design experiments on viral replication and host response.
- Develop and validate animal models under BSL-2/3/4 containment.
- Mentor junior researchers and technicians.
- Analyze data, present findings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Coordinate with government and external collaborators.
- The contractor will be expected to execute their assigned tasks, and to share their findings with other members of the project team.
- The contractor is expected to write reports and publications, and present their findings in meetings.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Expertise in viral molecular biology, immunology, and animal studies.
- Familiarity with BSL-4 protocols and select agent handling.
- Proficiency in assay development and interpretation.
- Strong scientific writing and leadership skills.
- Shall be knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences and have desired experience working in a research laboratory.
- The contractor shall have demonstrated their subject matter expertise in several areas, and their ability to conduct independent research through publication of several technical reports and/or peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstrates experience managing a research laboratory and a small cadre of technicians. Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
- Master's degree in virology, microbiology, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years in virology or infectious disease research.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information, is required.
- Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
- ACTIVE SECRET is preferred
- Ph.D. strongly preferred.
