TITLE: After/Before School Tutor for Newcomers (Districtwide) (Internal Only Middle
School and High School) (SY24-25)
LOCATION: TBD
REPORTS TO: MLE Director and Assistant Director - Dr Alberto Carrero & Mrs. Alma Pezo
GENERAL DUTIES: Prepare tutoring sessions for middle and high school foundational students who are considered newcomers and in need of additional academic support in core content subjects (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies) and also with their English language acquisition. The tutor will align his/her work with the content area curriculum to support understanding of core content for their students. In addition, the tutor will use ESL strategies to improve student English language acquisition, including vocabulary development strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be an educator at one of the middle or high schools who teaches entering and emerging ELs and is well versed in WIDA Standards and ELD instruction. We are looking for a well represented group of educators.
COMPENSATION: There will be 50 hours allocated to this work, Compensation: Teachers will be paid at the contractual rate for work outside of the school day (up to 50 hours total).
