Title - Security Monitor (SY26-27)
Reports To: Assistant Facilities Director/Principal /Assistant Principal
Hours: Monday - Friday from 7:00 - 3:30pm
Responsibilities:
Safety, Patrol, & Access
- Screen and validate all visitors, contractors, and guests using the school’s sign-in systems to ensure unauthorized individuals do not enter the building or grounds.
- Patrol assigned indoor and outdoor areas __ including hallways, stairwells, cafeterias, restrooms, and parking lots __ to maintain visibility, deter misconduct, and ensure physical security.
- Monitor security cameras and electronic access points to proactively spot and address safety risks.
Communication & Crisis Response
- Operate two-way radios, phones, and other digital communication tools to coordinate smoothly with school staff and administrative teams.
- De-escalate student conflicts using positive behavior intervention strategies to maintain a calm and safe learning environment.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, drill procedures, and crises under the direction of the Principal(s) and emergency service providers.
Reporting & Documentation
- Report all security violations, safety hazards, and property damage instantly to school administrators and local authorities when necessary.
- File detailed, accurate incident reports regarding behavioral issues, injuries, or security breaches in a timely manner.
Professional Conduct & School Culture
- Model professional behavior by maintaining a clean, professional appearance and using respectful, supportive language at all times.
- Protect student privacy by holding strict confidentiality regarding student records, personal information, and sensitive school matters.
- Treat all students fairly and equitably, building positive relationships that promote student pride and a welcoming school climate.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Good personal characteristics including self-discipline, maturity, self-confidence, professionalism, dedication, responsiveness to supervision
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Ability to move about the building and perimeter
- Experience working in a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic setting
- Ability to work with students, teachers and the public
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
