Chelsea Piers Athletic Club in Stamford, CT is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Full-Time Rinks Operations Manager to oversee our two NHL-sized ice rinks and lead a dedicated Ice Rink Maintenance Team. Our rinks are a hub of activity, serving both in-house programming and high-profile external partners, including the Connecticut Junior Rangers, Mid-Fairfield Youth Hockey, and the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team. This is a key role on the Chelsea Piers leadership team with opportunities for growth and development.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the ice rinks and general facility staff, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests and team members.
- Supervise and support the Ice Rink Maintenance Team to uphold high operational standards.
- Conduct bi-annual performance reviews to direct reports and provide ongoing, constructive feedback in alignment with Chelsea Piers’ "continuous coaching" philosophy to support team growth and development.
- Maintain a visible presence across the facility with at least four walk-throughs per shift to monitor and ensure smooth operations.
- Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment, including the Zamboni and performing ice cuts as needed to support the drivers. Chelsea Piers will train all operational responsibilities.
- Oversee mechanical systems, including chiller plants, compressors, filters, and strainers, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance.
- Manage logbooks for equipment, ice depth, blade changes, and other maintenance checklists.
- Serve as a point of contact for members, guests, and external clients—resolving inquiries, complaints, or special requests with professionalism and a customer-first mindset.
- Act as the point person for real-time issue and crisis management.
- Assist with the setup and operations of events and special programs, including Chelsea Piers’ Mite League hockey games.
- Coordinate with other departments to support events and ensure facilities are ready and functioning properly.
- Ensure all front- and back-of-house areas meet cleanliness and safety standards.
- Engage contractors and utilize emergency resources when immediate repairs or responses are required.
- Provide clear and consistent shift reports to keep leadership informed of operational issues and resolutions.
Compensation: $60,000-$70,000/year, depending on experience
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in ice rink or general facility maintenance preferred
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Able to lead with authority in a respectful and approachable manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified—or willing to be trained in-house
