POSITION: Lions Pride Teacher Assistant
Regular Education (EXEMPT POSITION)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Early Childhood Teacher Certification or completion of a three-credit Child Growth and Development course, or equivalent (college
preferred)
2. Experience working with age appropriate students in a school setting.
3. Knowledge of classroom preparation and record keeping requirements.
4. Related school experience desirable.
5. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Director of Community
Education.
REPORTS TO: Childcare Supervisor and Director of Community Education
JOB GOAL: To assist in the coordination of the Community Education Early Childhood Programs to ensure proper instruction and activities for students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform various instructional, clerical and other related duties, under the direction of the teacher, to aid in meeting the objectives of the program, including the following:
1. Assist the teacher in providing the daily program plan.
2. Ability to implement and create activities for small groups.
3. Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth.
4. Report necessary problems and/or information to teacher or supervisor.
5. Confer with teachers, team leaders and other appropriate personnel regarding students' individualized needs.
6. Assist with the supervision of students.
7. Assume responsibilitY for classroom in teacher's short absence.
8. Assume responsibility for all necessary personal care needs of the children. This includes, but is not limited to,
diapering/toileting care and feeding requirements.
9. Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
10. Attend and complete all required trainings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Salary $18.25 to $20.40 per hour based on experience and education
2. Program hours are 7:00am-5:00pm.
3. Work year is 186 days (the 180 school days, the full professional day, the two days before school starts, one day after school ends,
one set-up day, and one clean-up day.
4. Position includes 3 personal days for personal, legal, business, religious, household or family matters which require the
absence of the employee during work hours and that cannot otherwise be scheduled. Absence must be approved by the
Supervisor in writing 5 school days prior to the requested date, to avoid forfeiture of pay for unauthorized absence. In an
emergency situation, permission may be granted orally, with permission confirmed in writing using the standard form.
5. Position includes 13 sick days.
6. Vacation is earned in the following manner: 4 vacation days during the December recess for 0-4 years of service; 8 days during
December and February recesses for 5-14 years of service; and, 12 days during December, February and April recesses for
more than 15 years of service.
7. Position includes a 30-minute lunch break and a 15-minute break to be scheduled by the Supervisor and the teacher.
EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Lion's Pride Supervisor.
