Community Outreach Coordinator

Reports To: Program Manager

Job Summary

The Community Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in building strong connections between CDCSA, families, and the broader community. This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about engaging with others, enjoys networking and public speaking, and takes pride in creating welcoming, inclusive environments. The Coordinator attends community partnership events, facilitates CDCSA family and parent activities, and represents the program at Policy Council meetings and other outreach opportunities.

They help strengthen family involvement in the program and their children’s education while promoting CDCSA’s mission and school readiness goals. This position requires flexibility to adjust work hours for evening or weekend events as needed, while maintaining a standard 40-hour work week.

The Community Outreach Coordinator collaborates closely with the Program Manager, Outreach Assistant, and multiple departments to ensure a coordinated, high-quality program that supports families, strengthens community partnerships, and advances CDCSA’s overall mission.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, community partners, and local organizations to promote CDCSA’s mission and programs.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate CDCSA family events, parent trainings, and community partnership activities, including occasional evening or weekend events.
  • Promote family engagement by encouraging participation in center activities, program planning, and leadership opportunities such as Policy Council and Center Committees.
  • Partner with the Family Services team to support enrollment and outreach efforts.
  • Actively promote CDCSA programs and events through word of mouth, flyers, social media, ParentSquare, and other approved communication channels.
  • Gather parent feedback and survey results to identify interests and needs, and develop creative, inclusive events and activities that reflect those priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager, Outreach Assistant, and other departments to ensure consistent, high-quality outreach and engagement across the program.
  • Model professionalism and positive communication when engaging with children, families, staff, and community representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all Head Start, ECEAP, and WAC performance standards, and maintain confidentiality of all children, family, and staff information.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Transport self to CDCSA locations and community events; occasional travel may be required for out-of-town events.
  • Assist in coordinating or providing transportation for parents to attend CDCSA or community activities as needed.
  • Provide translation assistance for parent meetings and events when applicable.
  • Take meeting minutes for policy council and other meetings as needed.
  • Support program evaluation, self-assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Complete required reports, documentation, and communication promptly and accurately.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Executive Director.

  • Works well independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with computers and digital communication tools; experience with social media, ParentSquare, and basic design or marketing software preferred.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, further education in Early Childhood Education, Communications, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with or supporting low-income families is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Valid Washington State photo identification and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to travel to CDCSA and community events; occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
  • May be required to assist in transporting parents to program or community events.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Successful completion of DCYF background check; must remain free from convictions related to child abuse or neglect.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and meet all specified health and safety requirements.
  • Preference given to current or former Head Start/ECEAP parents.

  • $24.35-$25.60 per hour
