CONTRACT RATE

  • The starting wage for this position is $26.51 per hour. After six months, the hourly rate increases to $28.92 per hour. With tenure in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $36.84 per hour.
  • Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.BENEFITS EPOA

Communication Services - Print Shop

Overview
Responsible for operating, general maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment located in the District's print and sign shop and mailroom using various software programs to manage production. Provide mailroom relief, and general departmental support as available. Provide customer service and creative print solutions to ensure high-quality standards for internal and external customers. Serve as the main backup for the Print Production Coordinator in their absence.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Printing Equipment: Operate and troubleshoot equipment including digital printers, copiers, sign making equipment, paper cutter, paper drills, binding, folder and laser engraver. Coordinate with vendors for equipment maintenance. Prepare files for production by adjusting colors, checking file formats, and setting up layouts. Print the District’s payroll and accounts payable warrants.
  • Mailroom: Receive, sort, distribute and route District mail. Operate basic mailroom equipment such as mail inserter and postage meters. Prepare shipments and coordinate with postal and courier services. Process special mailings, disconnect notices, UPS and other mailings. Receive, process and distribute office supplies. Work with vendors and customers for ordering, returning, stocking and tracking supplies.
  • Develop Print Solutions: Collaborate with customers to understand their unique needs, explore creative print options, and develop innovative ideas or alternative approaches to achieve the desired outcome through design adjustments, material choices or specialized printing techniques. Inspect final products for errors or defects to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Workflow and Inventory Management: Receive and organize print jobs, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and importance. Work collaboratively with the Print Production Coordinator to ensure timely project completion. Monitor and order paper, ink, and other supplies needed for printing. Deliver and stock paper and related supplies.
  • Technology: Use software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office applications, print equipment software, mailroom software, cd/dvd burner and office supply programs.
  • Print Shop Coverage: Serve as primary back up to the Print Production Coordinator.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
  • Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person.
  • As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications

Education

  • No post-secondary education required.

Experience

  • 1 year Clerical experience, including mail handling, copying and general office equipment operation required.
  • Experience troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on printing or office equipment. preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required.

  • Requires good organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of printing techniques and materials.
  • Ability to use software like Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt to customer requests and offer creative print solutions, including material choices and design adjustments.
  • Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
  • Must be self-motivating individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well in team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and flexibility is a must.
  • Strong proofing skills and accuracy is required.
  • Requires problem-solving abilities and ability to be flexible on daily assigned tasks working in a fast-paced environment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have knowledge of, general office equipment; computers and networked printers/copy machines. Ability to learn PeopleSoft Timekeeping/HR; Maximo; print/sign shop and mailroom equipment. Including digital printers, copiers, sign making equipment, paper cutter, paper drills, binding, folder and laser engraver, postage meter, mail inserter, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
