What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Private Chef position at Chef Kaylee?
THE OPPORTUNITY
Chef Kaylee is a performance-focused private chef company serving professional athletes, executives, and ultra-high-net-worth families. We’re hiring a private chef to join our team in Cleveland, delivering weekly meal preparation, occasional in-home dinners, and paid travel with our clients.
At Chef Kaylee, late nights are rare and the lifestyle is unforgettable. This is an opportunity to build a career as a private chef inside a growing, performance-driven culinary company at the forefront of a new industry. We’ll train the right hire on athlete and performance nutrition, so a strong culinary foundation matters more than prior sports-nutrition experience
We’re looking for someone interested in long-term growth within a new industry that blends sports performance with private culinary services — getting in early with a company at the forefront of this space.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Prepare weekly meals for private clients, following performance-nutrition guidelines and client preferences
- Cook occasional in-home dinners for clients and their guests
- Represent Chef Kaylee’s standards of quality, cleanliness, and hospitality inside private homes
- Travel with clients as your performance earns the opportunity (paid day rate)
- Learn and apply athlete/performance nutrition principles through Chef Kaylee’s training
ATHLETE CULTURE & PERFORMANCE NUTRITION
This role puts you inside the world of professional athletes and the ecosystem that supports them. You’ll be trained in performance nutrition — cooking with recovery, body composition, and performance goals in mind — and you’ll work alongside the broader team supporting our clients, including dietitians, chiropractors, and trainers.
Over time, you’ll build fluency in how food fits into an athlete’s training, recovery, and travel schedule, a specialized skill set that’s still rare in the private chef world and one that sets you apart as this industry continues to grow.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- An exceptional cook with strong technical fundamentals
- Highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail
- Extremely clean — kitchens and workspaces left spotless
- Respectful and discreet; comfortable working inside private homes around high-profile clients
- Understands dining etiquette and professional hospitality standards
- A bit of an entrepreneurial spirit — self-motivated and resourceful
- Reliable and punctual, with clear, proactive communication
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule, including some evenings for in-home dinners
- Culinary training or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
- Food safety/sanitation knowledge; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Able to pass a background and reference check
TRAVEL & DAY RATE
- Travel opportunities become available as you gain experience in Cleveland households — timing and frequency depend on performance.
- When active for travel, expect roughly 50 – 60% of your time on the road, depending on performance and client need.
- While in Cleveland your hourly rate is $19 - $22 per hour, while traveling, your day rate is $150 – $200 per day, based on performance and evaluation.
- Airfare, lodging, and ground transportation, on assignment are covered by the company.
- Travel is booked personally and reimbursed after the trip.
- Destinations follow our clients — private residences, training locations, and seasonal homes, domestic and international
