5 Napkin Burger is the steakhouse of burger joints. We serve gourmet burgers, super salads, and hand-spun shakes in a high-energy, high-volume room that has become a true neighborhood fixture. Who We’re Looking For
We hire for character first. Systems, recipes, and reports can be taught. Warmth, judgment, and the instinct to take care of people cannot. Our ideal General Manager is a hospitality leader who also runs a tight business. You know your numbers, and your team would follow you anywhere. You understand that a great guest experience starts with how we treat each other.
What You’ll Own
- The guest experience: Protect what makes 5 Napkin Burger special, with consistent, generous, high-energy hospitality every shift.
- The team: Recruit, train, and develop managers and hourly staff. Build a culture where people grow, stay, and get promoted.
- The business: Full P&L ownership, including budgeting, forecasting, labor scheduling, prime cost, inventory, and vendor management. Read the data and act on it.
- The standards: Operational excellence, cleanliness, safety, and full compliance with NYC Department of Health, labor, and liquor regulations.
- The neighborhood: Drive sales through local relationships, private events, and community presence.
What You Bring
- 7–10 years of leadership experience in upscale casual or high-volume restaurants
- Proven success as a General Manager overseeing $7M in annual revenue
- Strong financial skills: P&L management, budgeting, labor scheduling, cost control, and inventory
- A track record of building and retaining strong management teams
- Comfort with restaurant technology (Toast, 7shifts, and Restaurant365 preferred)
- NYC Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain one)
- Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Steady, decisive leadership when the room is full and the pressure is on
