Full Job Description:
Checker Bus is a locally owned transportation company based in Marquette, Michigan. With two subcategories of transportation offered through our company (Large-group/Fleet-transportation & Day-To-Day Local/Long distance sedan operations). As we are expanding our fleet we are looking to expand our team to add a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic you will perform, assess & repair mechanical issues/ preventative maintenance on our fleet of vehicles. Which includes, but is not limited to, MCI, Prevost, Freightliners, etc. Our fleet contains both diesel and gasoline engines and must be up to date with all DOT regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
· Performs up-keep inspections, maintenance, repairs to all fleet vehicles
· Works with team to maintain fleet status to comply with DOT regulations/inspections
· Works to diagnose problems effectively & provide solutions to issues that arise
· Utilities technological/ computer software’s to interpret mechanical/system failures (Cummins Insite/ JPRO/Allison DOC)
· Actively works to keep garage/service bays clean and organized (returning tools to proper locations)
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to work as a team
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Willingness to learn/grow knowledgebase
Job Requirements:
· Minimum of 1 year working with Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Experience
· Knowledge on both Diesel & Gasoline Engines
· Knowledge on Electrical system
· Knowledge on Steering systems
· Knowledge on Braking systems (ABS & Airbrake)
· Knowledge on Suspension systems (Spring & Air)
· Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50-100 pounds
· Ability to pass a background check
· Ability to pass a Drug Screening (including THC)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
