What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Mechanic position at Checker Auto Salvage?
Checker Wrecker is looking to add an Automotive Technician to our team in Lawton, OK. If you have experience as a technician or mechanic and have a successful track record, we want to talk to you! This person will be accountable for repairing vehicles and their ongoing maintenance for our towing fleet.
We do not work on vehicles for the public!!
The ideal candidate will have previous automotive experience working with a variety of engines, be a dependable employee, exhibit teamwork, and add value to our organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine maintenance – Tasks include oil changes, tire rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front end work, inspections, battery installations, and headlight/taillight installations.
- Electrical Knowledge a HUGE PLUS - Able to pull and replace radios, install remote start systems. Understand low voltage signal wiring.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures – Includes extensive diagnostic inventory to determine the sources of problems and provide accurate repair recommendations.
- Manage paperwork – Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for our records.
- Maintain cleanliness - Ensure the work environment is clean and safe to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment necessary
- Must have your own tools (will make arrangements for tool box transport)
- Ability to operate all auto repair tools
- Excellent listening & communication skills
- Must be an initiative-taker and be dependable
