Center for Human Development (CHD) is currently looking for flexible, dependable, and compassionate Per Diem Direct Care Staff to join our relief pool. If you are looking for a rewarding role with ultimate scheduling flexibility, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Location: Springfield, MA and surrounding towns
Pay Rate: $18.00 / hour
MAP certification bonus: $500 Bonus (Exclusive to candidates who possess an active MAP certification at the time of hire).

Choose Your Shifts - Ultimate Flexibility:
Our relief pool keeps our community-based group homes running smoothly. We are looking for adaptable staff who are ready and willing to cover shifts across multiple residential sites in the Springfield area, based on staffing needs.
Available Shifts:
- Weekends: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift available.
- Weekdays: 2nd and 3rd shift available.
Pool Requirement: To remain active in our relief pool, per-dem staff are required to pick up a minimum of 4 shifts per month. Additionally, per-dem staff must keep up to date with CHD required trainings.
Your Role as a Relief Direct Care Staff:
You will work within a supportive residential environment for developmentally disabled adults, helping them grow and live as independently as possible. Your day-to-day includes:
- Daily Living Support: Assist individuals with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.
- Relationship Building: Establish professional, person-centered, and supportive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer medications to individuals (MAP certified staff preferred).
- Advocacy & Independence: Advocate for individuals in community settings and provide opportunities to optimize their independence.
Many of our successful staff members have background experience as Home Health Aides (HHAs), Personal Care Assistants (PCAs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), or have been family caregivers!
Requirements:
- MAP Certification: Highly preferred. Please note: The $500 MAP certification bonus is strictly reserved for candidates who come into the role with an already active, valid MAP certification. If you are not certified, you must have the ability to complete Medication Administration Program training upon hire.
- Site Flexibility: Must be flexible to work at more than one residential site as assigned by managers to meet staffing needs.
- Logistics: Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for work use.
- Background Check: All candidates must pass a background record screening process.
- Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or behavioral complexities is highly encouraged.
- Communication: Reliable smartphone or device with access to Microsoft Teams for scheduling purposes.
