POSITION TITLE: Director of Leadership Giving & Campaign Strategy

STATUS: Full-Time or Part-Time (Open to 20–40 hours per week depending on candidate availability and experience)

SALARY RANGE: $70,000 – $85,000 (Full-time equivalent; will be pro-rated for part-time schedules)

Position Summary

This role is open to both full-time and part-time candidates. For a full-time individual, the role encompasses the full scope of portfolio cultivation and campaign execution outlined below. For a part-time individual, the primary focus will narrow toward direct Major Gift Portfolio Management, with a scaled portfolio size and campaign execution support tailored to the agreed schedule.

The Director of Leadership Giving and Campaign Strategy will be a key driver in scaling Chattanooga Room in the Inn’s philanthropic impact. This role focuses on identifying and nurturing deep relationships with individual donors capable of making gifts of $5,000 and above. Beyond standard portfolio management, this individual will serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director in the planning, launching, and execution of an upcoming Capital Campaign.

You will work alongside CRITI’s Director of Development (who manages annual giving <$5k and marketing) to ensure a seamless "pipeline" for donor growth.

Key Responsibilities

The duties outlined here reflect a full-time capacity. For part-time arrangements, responsibilities will be refined to align with the designated hourly commitment.

Major Gift Portfolio Management (60%)

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 qualified donors and prospects capable of making gifts of $5,000 and above.
  • Build and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned donors.
  • Conduct donor discovery, qualification, and relationship-building efforts to deepen engagement and increase giving over time.
  • Meet regularly with donors and prospects through in-person visits, calls, tours, and other meaningful touchpoints.
  • Partner with the Executive Director on high-level donor strategy and select solicitation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to identify and transition donors with strong major gift potential into a more personalized engagement strategy.
  • Help ensure donors receive thoughtful, timely, and mission-centered stewardship.

Capital Campaign Execution & Leadership (30%)

  • Serve as a key partner to the Executive Director in the planning, coordination, and execution of CRITI’s upcoming capital campaign.
  • Help translate the existing feasibility study, campaign recommendations, and timeline into actionable weekly and monthly priorities for staff, board, and volunteer leaders.
  • Recruit, support, and help manage campaign volunteer committees, ensuring members are equipped with clear expectations, strategy, and next steps.
  • Prepare campaign-related briefing materials, prospect research, donor strategy, and personalized talking points to support the Executive Director and Board in leadership-level donor engagement and solicitation.
  • Help strengthen board and volunteer confidence in campaign fundraising by providing structure, preparation, and follow-through around donor outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to ensure campaign messaging remains aligned with CRITI’s broader fundraising and communications strategy while preserving the personalized nature of major donor engagement.
  • Track campaign progress, donor movement, leadership-level asks, and key next steps to help maintain momentum and visibility throughout the campaign process.
  • Maintain campaign reporting tools, including prospect tracking, leadership giving progress, and related pipeline or gift table management.

Administration & CRM (10%)

  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records, contact reports, next steps, and gift activity in Little Green Light (LGL).
  • Support donor and campaign reporting for the Executive Director, Development Committee, and Board of Directors as needed.
  • Monitor portfolio activity and progress toward major gift goals.
  • Help ensure strong data integrity and effective use of donor information to inform strategy.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in major gifts fundraising within a nonprofit setting.
  • Experience supporting or participating in a capital campaign, campaign planning process, or leadership giving initiative.
  • Familiarity with Little Green Light or similar donor CRM platforms.
  • Experience working with volunteer leaders, boards, or donor committees.

Internal Structure Context

Note for candidates: You will join a collaborative team where the Director of Development manages annual giving, donor communications, stewardship systems, events, and donors typically giving under $5,000 annually. This role will focus primarily on individual major donors and prospects with the capacity and inclination to give $5,000 annually and/or make campaign commitments. This allows the DOLG to focus exclusively on high-impact, one-on-one relationship building and the strategic success of our capital expansion.
