Responsibilities
- Accurately assign and review medical codes using ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding systems for inpatient and outpatient services
- Prepare and submit insurance claims utilizing advanced billing software and EMR/EHR systems to ensure timely reimbursement
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records to support precise billing and coding procedures
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, coding decisions, and billing activities in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and ensure adherence to medical coding guidelines
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies
- Stay current with changes in health insurance policies, third-party billing requirements, and coding standards to optimize revenue cycle management
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of electronic health record (EHR) management for billing purposes. Pediatric experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG systems, and medical terminology essential for accurate coding practices
- Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management strategies
