Nurse - Substitute

Job Title: Health Services Substitute

Employment Status: Seasonal/Temporary

Reports to: Director of Health Services

PURPOSE/FUNCTION:

The Health Services Substitute will help with routine administrative and simple medical responsibilities in Health Services under the direction of a licensed school nurse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide first aid for injuries.

• Ensure that first aid stations are stocked and that teachers have basic first aid supplies in their room.

• Assist in replenishing supplies on campus and disinfecting as needed.

• Keep an accurate written record of all student visits.

• Facilitate positive social exchanges for students and families with school.

• Maintain confidentiality of students and families.

• Follow all applicable aspects of the CCS Employee Handbook.

• Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of TN

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification

• At least 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, school health, urgent care, or related settings.

• Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of Chattanooga Christian School

• Experience with medication administration and management of common chronic conditions (asthma, diabetes, allergies, seizures).

• Experience working with students and families from a variety of backgrounds

• Skill in maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided.

• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents.

• Commitment to confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA standards) and student privacy.

• Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.

• Requires lifting, pushing, and/or pulling which does not exceed twenty-five pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.

• Is subject to normal inside and outside environmental conditions.

• Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position.
