2nd Shift Quality Assurance Technician

If you’ve ever wondered what owning your own business is like, just ask an Employee Owner of Chatsworth Products (CPI). Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for a Quality Assurance Technician (2^nd Shift) in CPI’s Round Rock, Texas location.

As a CPI Quality Assurance Technician, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world’s digital technology. Day to Day you will be responsible for providing quality support and function with minimal supervision and execute proper decision making with clear understanding of proper escalation follow-up, such as Quality Alerts and Material defect. You will perform quality assurance duties such as parts inspection, process control verification, receiving inspection, gage calibration/maintenance, evaluation of returned material, etc.  you will document the inspection results and activities in inspection records such as checklists, inspection logs, gage calibration software, ERP, non-conformance material reports, MRB, etc. Assist the Production Team on how to perform applicable inspection tasks. Complete internal process audits, document audit results for records keeping, identify audit action items and follow up until closure. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Provide continuous improvement support in all production areas to improve processes resulting in improved quality of finished products.

Essential Functions:

• Inspection & Testing: Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections to verify conformance to specifications. Inspects manufactured, purchased and returned parts against drawings and other specifications; first article inspection.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze quality data, identify defects, and prepare detailed reports using SPC (Statistical Process Control) methods.
• Documentation Control: Maintain quality records and documentation, such as inspection logs and control plans.
• Calibration & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on inspection and testing equipment. Successfully collaborate with departments such as, production, materials, and engineering.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions (e.g., PPAP, FMEA, LEAN, PDCA, DMAIC).
• Problem-solving techniques: Define, describe, and apply problem-solving techniques, such as 5 Whys and 8D.
• Training & Collaboration: Train production staff on quality standards and collaborate with teams to resolve issues. Communicate quality standard and feedback when necessary with a professional and knowledgeable approach.
• Quality Audits: Perform internal audit and flash audit (LPA), including inspection logs.
• Nonconforming Material: Identifying, segregating and performing MRB Process. 
• Demonstrate professional tact and knowledge to take a proactive approach to quality and prevent defect initiation.

Technical Competencies:

• Two (2) year college degree in a technical curriculum preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of quality assurance related experience.
• Broad working knowledge of statistical process control.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office computer software experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Advanced knowledge and use of measuring devices.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work in a manufacturing environment.
• Working with a computer.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, crouching, & stooping.
• Lift up to 40lbs.
