The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and university property. Responsibilities include conducting routine patrols, responding to incidents, and providing exceptional customer service to the campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine patrols on foot or by vehicle to ensure the safety and security of personnel, buildings, and equipment.
- Maintain a visible security presence and escort services as needed.
- Conduct periodic checks of emergency equipment (call boxes, lighting, etc.) and report malfunctions.
- Identify and report dangerous or suspicious activity to campus police.
- Operate the campus security system.
- Secure campus buildings and classrooms by ensuring doors are locked.
- Enforce parking policies, including issuing citations and coordinating towing when appropriate.
- Maintain professional, positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Strong verbal communication skills, both in person and via radio.
- Ability to work independently and carry out routine duties with minimal supervision.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- 1-2 years of experience in campus safety, private security, or related field preferred.
