The Assistant Professor & Associate Academic Fieldwork Coordinator position is a 12-month tenure-eligible faculty position in the Occupational Therapy department at Chatham University. This role includes administrative management of clinical placements for the entry-level occupational therapy doctorate (ELOTD) program in collaboration with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, teaching courses related to fieldwork, research/evidence-based practice and topics of clinical expertise, advising, as well as service and scholarship responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Manual. This position requires routine presence on-campus, but opportunities for remote work sometimes exist. Evening or weekends as well as travel to clinical sites may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Initial certification as an OTR (occupational therapist, Registered) and current licensure as an occupational therapist (or eligible) in the Commonwealth of PA.
  • Terminal Doctoral degree (Ex: post-professional OTD, PhD, ScD, EdD).
  • Minimum of 5 years' clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Prior experience as a Fieldwork Educator.
  • Evidence of effective professional partnerships and collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills, written & verbal communication, & ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Respect for diversity of background, identity, & perspectives.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality to handle sensitive matters using discretion, diplomacy, & judgment.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence, excellent listening skills, & a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Experience in experiential learning/teaching or innovative program development preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of Level I student fieldwork experiences within the curriculum.
  • Assist the AFWC in ensuring the program's compliance with all fieldwork accreditation standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between Chatham University and the affiliating fieldwork sites.
  • Provide support to Clinical Fieldwork Educators.
  • Coordinate annual Fieldwork Educator event.
  • Recruit and develop fieldwork Level I & II sites as needed.
  • Assist the Program Director & Academic Fieldwork Coordinator with the preparation of accreditation/re-accreditation reports, & other program reports.
  • Correspond & collaborate with others (including other faculty, administrative staff, students, vendors, other university departments, prospective students & applicants, clinical sites, & the public) in person, & via phone, email, & Zoom/Teams
  • Complete Level I & II clinical site visits as needed.
  • Collaborate with Fieldwork Administrative Assistant related to tracking student requirements and establishing contracts with sites.
  • Prepare occupational therapy coursework and participate in the instruction of students related to fieldwork and areas of clinical expertise.
  • Serve as an advisor to students, which may include academic advising, community fieldwork advising, or capstone faculty or site mentorship.
  • Participate in curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Participate in occupational therapy admissions' activities as requested.
  • Engage in other department, university, and professional service and scholarly activities within areas of interest and in alignment with the department's mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
