Assistant Varsity/JV Boys Volleyball Coach

Summary
Chatham High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as an Assistant Varsity/JV Boys Volleyball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to work closely with the head coach, student-athletes, and the broader school community to promote the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth through the sport of volleyball. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, a passion for mentoring young athletes, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and game strategies.
• Support the development of student-athletes’ skills, including technical and tactical aspects of volleyball.
• Help organize and supervise team activities, including games, tournaments, and team meetings.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
• Assist in the evaluation of player performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with the head coach to develop and implement training plans and conditioning programs.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
• Attend all practices, games, and team events, ensuring a consistent presence and support for the team.
• Uphold the school's policies and guidelines regarding athletics and student conduct.

Requirements

• NJ Teaching Credential OR NJ Substitute Credential
• Previous coaching experience in volleyball or a strong background as a player at the high school or collegiate level.
• Knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, other coaching staff, and school personnel.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
• Availability to attend practices and games during the season, including evenings and weekends.
• A passion for mentoring young athletes and a commitment to their personal and athletic development.

Salary: $6,214.80

This is not a benefits eligible position.
