Chatham County Mosquito Control has an opening for a Pilot I with an FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate and at least 1,500 flight hours. If this is you, we encourage you to apply.
In this role, you
- Pilot MD 500 at low level and low light for aerial larviciding, adulticiding, and aerial firefighting.
- Transport personnel and equipment during various law enforcement and emergency functions.
- Apply pesticides to control adult and immature mosquitoes.
- Assist in Law Enforcement Support Missions, Search and Rescue, External Load and Aerial Fire Suppression, and other flight missions in support of County operations.
- Join an on-call rotation with other Pilots to respond to various emergency functions.
- Maintain aircraft and flight logs in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Assist with prescribed inspections, maintenance, and repair.
- Use your communication and customer service skills as you respond to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
•FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate with at least 1,500 total flight hours; or
•Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
•Must possess a current class II medical certificate.
•Must possess or be able to obtain a night vision goggle endorsement.
•Must possess a Georgia Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s license with aerial endorsements or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
•Must be able to swim and perform emergency water egress procedures training (SWET).
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
•Must be knowledgeable of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), AGNAV, or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Aircraft Maintenance, Turbine, and MD 500 experience.
•One (1) year of experience piloting rotary-wing aircraft and aerial applications of pesticides.
