What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at Chatham County Government?

Reporting to the Superintendent, you
- Supervise multiple work crews performing inspection, construction, maintenance, or drainage work, primarily in Road Maintenance and Stormwater operations.
- Assign work and assist the Superintendent in monitoring work progress.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and training to crew members.
- Make minor repairs and participate in the daily work with your crew.
- Respond to inquiries from the public in a professional and timely manner.
- Work as part of the Critical Workforce and will respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends and be on call on a 24- hour basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least three (3) years of experience in Road Maintenance, Stormwater operations, and/or maintenance work, including supervisory experience, survey experience, and experience operating medium and heavy equipment; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License at the time of application.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia Pesticide License with Right of Way and Aquatic Application within six (6) months of employment.
- Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during regular working hours.
