Join Team Chatham today. Description Join the Building Safety and Regulatory Services Department as a Cashier II and play a key role in handling and processing financial transactions for the department. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to assist the public with payments and permits.
Examples of Duties Receives monies by mail or in person. Verifies payments against records maintained within office and verifies that account numbers are on checks. Prepares required tabulations and prepares bank deposits.
Makes change and issues receipts for monies accepted, and inspects for counterfeit, foreign, or damaged currency. Inspects checks for proper amount, date, signature, and endorsement. Classifies receipts and validates documents.
Reads totals of computer and balances with amount of money in register and/or vault. Maintains records of all transactions, receipts, and disbursements. Furnishes input for the daily cashier's report.
Assists the public in a variety of functions such as issuing permits. Prepares statements for billing. Researches collections and related information and assists in preparation of accounting records and special projects.
Performs data entry Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least two (2) years of cashiering or related experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
