What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARATRANSIT SUPERVISOR position at Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT)?
SUMMARY: Ensures that all the paratransit drivers schedules are provided most efficiently and appropriately. Ensures thorough and professional communication with drivers/control central. Dependability is a must and the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while working in a busy and diverse workplace.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Coordinate the daily operation of the fleet of drivers, ensuring timely completion of assigned workload by reviewing and revising the schedules as necessary.
Makes decisions accurately and independently.
Contacts Lead Paratransit Supervisor when needing input.
Dispatch Paratransit Operators to ensure adequate disbursement of trips between all assigned routes.
Monitor service to ensure it meets the parameters set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Able to organize self and workload in an efficient and effective manner.
Reviews and prepares next days schedules.
Utilizes radio and telephone communication.
Uses a two-way radio to communicate information with drivers.
Speaks in a clear and sensitive way when interacting with others.
Handles stressful situations without compromising service or quality.
Delivers instructions over the radio to drivers as needed.
Accurately completes all required paperwork and data entry.
Adds information on ride requests into computer.
Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely and accurate manner.
Scheduling daily to assure the drivers are receiving communication most efficiently.
Maintains professional attitude and performance in all interactions with clients and staff.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekend, and holidays.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education And Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Solid two to three years previous paratransit or dispatch experience preferred.
Preferred Education And Experience
Relevant experience with two-way communication device.
Excellent knowledge of service area streets, landmarks, and institutions.
Excellent understanding of traffic patterns and their impact on paratransit operations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must possess a valid Georgias drivers license.
Physical Demands/Requirements
Frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasional bending and lifting.
The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to use deductive reasoning and to carry out detailed written oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables and their impact on paratransit operations.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have good writing skills. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to speak
fluent English in order to communicate with people when dispatching.
