What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL TRAINING PROGRAM-BUS OPERATOR FIXED ROUTE position at Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT)?
Summary
This 6-8 week program is designed to train candidates with a Commercial Driver's License permit and a passenger endorsement. The training comprises classroom lectures, field training coursework, and a road test. Upon completing classroom tests, field training, and passing the road test, a candidate for the CDL training program will be issued a CDL class B with Passenger endorsement by the State of Georgia.
Requirements
Must be at least 23 years of age.
A valid license and Commercial Driver's License Permit with Passenger Endorsement.
Out of State license holders must their license into a Georgia license within 60 days.
Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
No homicide, manslaughter, or assault convictions are associated with a motor vehicles operation.
No major violation within the last 36 months.
Must not have been convicted for leaving the scene of an accident within the last 36 months.
Must not have EVER been convicted of more than one of the following:
Being under the influence of alcohol as prescribed by state law.
Being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Refusing to take an alcohol test as required by state or jurisdiction under its implied consent laws or regulations.
Leaving the scene of an accident.
Using a vehicle to commit a felony.
Must not be disqualified to operate a commercial vehicle.
Must undergo a pre-employment drug test and physical by a Chatham Area Transit-appointed physician and receive clearance.
Must undergo a criminal background check.
No felony convictions including but not limited to the following:
Drug possession
Drug trafficking (manufacture, distributing, or dispensing a controlled substance.
Assault convictions
Sexual offenses
