This internship provides a practical, hands-on learning opportunity with applied AI, organizational change initiatives, and emerging technologies in a social justice context. The AI and Digital Innovation intern will support coordination, experimentation, and responsible adoption of AI tools and workflows across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- AI Initiative Coordination & Tracking: Support the AI Discovery Lab and Study Group; maintain an inventory of AI initiatives; track use cases, pilots, and outcomes.
- Responsible AI Experimentation & Tool Testing: Run small pilots and proofs of concept; research and test chatbots and generative AI tools for usefulness, risks, and accessibility; document risks and unintended impacts.
- Training & Staff Enablement: Support staff training on AI tools; develop guidance materials, job aids, and FAQs; provide assistance to staff experimenting with AI.
Education
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in computer science, information systems management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of work experience, education, and training.
- Demonstrated interest in AI and emerging technologies.
- Familiarity with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT), chatbots, or AI-assisted workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and Windows 11 OS.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools and automation workflows.
- Experience coordinating projects or maintaining documentation.
- Exposure to training, facilitation, or peer learning.
- Understanding of ethical, responsible, or inclusive technology practices.
- Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
