What a day in the life of the Field Surveyor would look like
You will perform a diverse range of surveying projects using the latest AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Trimble technology to achieve precise results in both field and office environments. Your responsibilities will span from conducting field measurements and data collection to performing research, drafting, and construction staking calculations. You'll work with cutting-edge equipment including robotic total stations, scanners, and GPS systems while building valuable experience across multiple survey disciplines.
- Conduct comprehensive surveying services, including ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys, as well as construction layout and subdivision platting.
- Execute planning and zoning surveys and control surveys with precision and attention to detail.
- Leverage advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Trimble Business Center technology, along with field equipment including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Scanners, and GPS systems.
- Perform survey research, drafting tasks, and construction staking calculations as part of project deliverables.
- Utilize Microsoft Office software for project documentation and communication.
- Support unmanned aerial survey operations when applicable, with FAA Part 107 certification preferred.
What you will need to thrive in this role:
Experience: 1-5 years of surveying experience including boundary and ALTA surveys, construction layout, topographic and utility surveys, R/W or Route Surveys, and survey control networks.
Education: Formal education in Land Surveying or a related field is desired. Career track toward professional licensure is welcomed and supported.
Location: Lafayette, IN
Software skills: Proficiency in Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Familiarity with drafting, layout, and design software is a plus.
Technical expertise: Working knowledge of current field equipment and techniques, including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Scanners, GPS, and data collection systems.
Adaptability: Excel at working in both field and office environments while adapting to diverse project requirements and survey disciplines.
Salary : $48,000 - $54,000
