JOB SUMMARY:  The position works closely with and assists the Corporate Controller with all financial & grant accounting and the preparation of monthly financial reporting.  The Supervisor acts as a liaison between Chase Brexton and its external accountants during the annual audits and prepares the information necessary for the filing of cost reports and tax returns. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and reviewing transactions and account reconciliations.  The Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process, managing the organization’s banking and insurance relationships, supervising the Staff accountant and other related-duties as they arise.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performance Management

  • Supervises monthly accounting functions, ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting procedures and governmental accounting standards and required deadlines.
  • Leads the accounting and reporting of clinical revenues, including analysis of collection rates, payer mix, bad debt and visit volumes.
  • Responsible for the preparation of daily cash reporting as well as monthly investment reports.
  • Responsible for oversight of the accounts payable process and staff.
  • Produces financial data required for the preparation of cost reports and tax returns.
  • Assists staff as needed with monthly account reconciliations and reviews such work.
  • Assists Financial Planning and Analysis department with clinical revenue assumptions for annual budget. 

 

Critical Thinking and Analysis

  • Reviews asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries and balances for accuracy by analyzing account information and understanding the underlying operations.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Reviews generated reports for accuracy and attempts to gain an understanding of report outliers prior to distributing such reports.  
  • Prepares analysis of accounts receivable, patient payables and collections and obtains status updates from Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Coordinates with insurance broker to prepare analysis of insurance policy options for  management review.
  • Communicates actual and potential insurance claims to insurance broker.    
  • Perform ad hoc reporting as necessary.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.

 

 

 

Checking, Examining, and Recording

  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; and reconciling entries. 
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing supporting documentation.

 

Compliance Policy and Procedures

  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures or changes to existing policies and procedures.
  • Review and recommend modifications to existing accounting systems and procedures
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

 

Communication

  • Participates in meetings with Revenue Cycle Management Company raising any questions/concerns regarding billing, revenue and/or accounts receivable
  • Prepares monthly reporting on outstanding accounts receivable and related allowance balances 
  • Meaningfully participates in the Finance department meetings

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of accounting employment experience
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles

Experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close process and generating financial statements

  • Excellent accounting software user and communication skills


 WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is typically performed in an office environment.

Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
