Chas. Verheyden, Inc is an independant family-owned, multi-location funeral service
organization seeking an experienced Senior Level Bookkeeper to work on-site at our Grosse
Pointe Park, MI, funeral home. This role is essential to daily operations and works closely with
executive leadership, location managers, and staff across all locations.
The Senior Level Bookkeeper oversees full-cycle bookkeeping while supporting HR and
operational leadership. This position is well-suited for someone who values accuracy,
confidentiality, and consistency, and who enjoys working in a close-knit, service-driven
environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries,
- and account reconciliations
- Use QuickBooks Enterprise and Excel, including tracking fixed assets and depreciation
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable across multiple locations, including invoicing,
- payments, and aging reports
- Prepare and file sales and use tax reports
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for leadership
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Collaborate on-site with executive leadership and the company CPA on audits and tax
- filings
- Track financial data and support company KPIs
- Communicate clearly and professionally with leadership and staff
- Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- 5 to 7 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with multi-entity organizationsÂ
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working on-site
