Program Structure:

• Duration/Schedule: Flexible part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer months
• Location: Onsite - Cleveland
• Start Date: May 2026
  
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Electrical/Controls Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
• Team-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  
  

Preferred Experience:

• Training in PLC languages
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft SQL, Wonderware InTouch
  
  

What You’ll Focus On:

• Assist with design and evaluation of automation and control systems
• Design, research, and update the graphical user interfaces utilized by operators to improve production workflow
• Participate in Continuous Improvement and process documentation projects
• Learn to navigate, develop, and troubleshoot HMI software and assist in integrating new process equipment (such as safety lasers, proximity switches, robotics, and PLCs) into the HMI environment
• Test and monitor systems to ensure functionality, address issues, and adjust automated processes as needed
• Develop an understanding of steelmaking process and how control systems drive operational excellence
• Build skills in project management and professional communication through regular status updates and team collaboration
• Propose design changes and improvements for future automation projects
• Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements
