Position Summary
Charter Mechanical is seeking a motivated Project Engineer – Mechanical & Process Piping to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site position that supports the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical and process piping construction projects from pre-construction through project closeout.
Working under the guidance of experienced Project Managers, this role provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals to develop project management skills within the mechanical construction industry. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers and field leadership with:
- Preparation of project estimates, proposals, and budgets
- Material procurement, purchasing, and tracking
- Labor productivity tracking and reporting
- Development and maintenance of project schedules
- Management of contract documents, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs
- Review of construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Coordination with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal project teams
- Cost tracking, forecasting, and change management support
- Site walks and field coordination activities
- Resolution of field issues in collaboration with Superintendents and Foremen
- Support of project safety initiatives and compliance documentation
- Providing information and resources needed for efficient field installation
- Continuous improvement of project delivery processes and project execution strategies
Qualifications
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- Equivalent construction, engineering, or project coordination experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
- Understanding of project planning, scheduling, and cost control principles
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with project management, scheduling, BIM, CAD, Bluebeam, or related construction software is a plus
- Knowledge of mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, or process piping systems is preferred
- Previous experience supporting commercial, industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, or process piping projects is highly desirable
- Commitment to safety and understanding of construction safety standards and regulations
