Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Transportation amp; Disposal Logistics Coordinator to coordinate daily transportation and disposal logistics for multiple soil, waste, and regulated-materials projects throughout the New England and Tri-State markets. This position works closely with project teams, trucking subcontractors, disposal facilities, consultants, and site personnel to ensure materials are transported safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily transportation and disposal logistics across multiple concurrent projects, including trucking, facility availability, site requirements, material volumes, and project schedules.
- Develop and maintain relationships with trucking subcontractors, transportation providers, disposal facilities, quarries, transload facilities, and recycling facilities.
- Coordinate and maintain transportation agreements, permits, insurance, compliance records, and required transportation and disposal documentation.
- Review soil characterization and disposal classifications to identify appropriate disposal options, transportation requirements, and project costs.
- Track waste-stream approvals, quantities, load counts, shipping documentation, invoicing requirements, and project closeout.
- Proactively identify and resolve logistical challenges, including trucking shortages, facility restrictions, rejected loads, documentation issues, material quality issues, and schedule changes.
- Develop cost-effective dispatching strategies to maximize truck utilization, minimize downtime, and control transportation costs.
- Monitor project activity, assist Project Managers with changing conditions and project issues, and communicate potential contract impacts and documentation requirements.
- Support project invoicing, status reporting, operational metrics, load-volume forecasting, and project meetings.
- Visit Company-operated and receiving facilities to evaluate operations, identify improvement opportunities, and maintain knowledge of facility requirements.
- Complete assigned work in accordance with schedules and budgets while identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase project profitability.
- Promote and reinforce the Company's vision, values, safety expectations, and business objectives when working with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications amp; Skills
- DOT 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Compliance Training.
- Experience in transportation logistics, construction, environmental services, waste management, soil management, or a related industry.
- Working knowledge of trucking operations, disposal facilities, material transportation, and project logistics.
- Familiarity with soil characterization, disposal classifications, facility acceptance requirements, and transportation documentation preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding documentation, quantities, schedules, costs, and invoicing.
- Ability to make timely decisions and resolve unexpected logistical and operational challenges.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database/spreadsheet-based tracking systems.
