SAW OPERATOR
Job Summary
The Art Frames Saw Operator is responsible for cutting molding and frame materials to precise specifications in a production environment. This position supports the manufacturing of custom and production picture frames through the operation of precision saw equipment while maintaining efficiency, quality, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Operations
- Operate double miter saws and related equipment to cut frame molding according to work orders and specifications.
- Measure and cut materials accurately to required dimensions and angles.
- Read and interpret production tickets and frame specifications.
- Maintain workflow efficiency to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
- Organize materials and prepare stock for production runs.
- Assist with material handling and movement of molding inventory.
- Coordinate with production and assembly teams to support smooth operations.
Quality Control
- Inspect cut materials for accuracy, consistency, and defects prior to assembly.
- Verify measurements and angles to ensure proper frame fit and alignment.
- Identify and report damaged materials or production issues.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measuring and cutting practices.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of saw equipment and work areas.
- Monitor saw blades and components for wear or damage.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain organized tools, materials, and supplies.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while operating machinery.
- Always required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Safely handle wood, composite, and metal molding materials.
- Participate in required safety training and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience operating saws, woodworking equipment, or manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Strong measuring, basic math, and tape-measure reading skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous woodworking, framing, or industrial saw operation experience preferred.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, dust, and noise.
